Q: Can you suggest anything to help with nasal polyps?
L (by email)
A: Nasal polyps can be extremely unpleasant and a continuous inflammatory process within the nose and sinuses are thought to be the chief cause. It’s almost as if the body gets into this inflammatory situation and can’t get out of this cycle, so it just goes on recurring. The inflammation can be due to allergies; allergens in the atmosphere or caused by sinus infection. The overproduction of fluid in the sinus and nasal membranes enlarge and pop out through the sinus openings into the nasal cavities and these bulging tissues are nasal polyps.
I’m going to suggest a few products which should help:
Firstly our Simba, African potato tuber which will help your immune system function more effectively and also help to reduce inflammation. When the body gets into this situation it can also overproduce IgE, the antibody responsible for histamine (hence allergic conditions can develop) When your immune system is functioning at the correct level it will stop your body overproducing IgE.
I would take 1 capsule 3 times daily on an empty stomach for at least 4 months.
Secondly, Allitech, which is pure allicin. Allicin is the principle biological active compound of garlic and scientific evidence suggest that allicin is responsible for the many health benefits associated with garlic. Allitech has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and it helps to clear up nasal congestion and inflammation, so it may help to prevent sinus infection. Garlic is also recommended for people with allergic rhinitis as it helps to reduce inflammation in the nasal passages. Allitech is brilliant and is much stronger than anti-biotics (without the side effects) I always have some in the house and take it at the first sign of an infection. It stops flu and colds in their tracks
Take Allitech for 2 months as directed – it’s available from www.dulwichhealth.co.uk
Thirdly Vitamin A. This antioxidant is required to keep the mucous membranes soft, moist and healthy, provide help to the immune system and help reduce severity of any infections. Nasal polyps may be prevented from developing in the first place as long as there is adequate Vitamin A in the diet (or with supplementation)
And lastly, the mineral magnesium relaxes body tissues (especially smooth muscle in the body) and may help to reduce inflammation.
Hope this is useful and please keep me posted.
